Roman Opalka (1931 – 2011)
In fact, the artist, Roman Opalka, has painted only one image his lifelong, a picture full of figures with the title "1965/1 - ∞". He begun with a small white 1 in 1965 and since then he did nothing else, than to paint on grey background a number after the next. Number for number, year after year. As he had reached the 35327, the first picture was full; he called it "Detail". Then he began the next "Detail", which ended with the figure 55555.
In the course of time he mixed more and more white in the background. Eventually his figures would have merged with the background finally. But before that Roman Opalk died, at the age of 29199 days. (Translated @ Hanno Rauterberg, Die Zeit, Nr 33, 11 August 2011)
Somehow familiarly to you? The "History of creation" also has the title "1993/1 - ∞", but - a little bit strict- each number gets its own image and furthermore is not only an image, but also a 3 dimensional object too. It is an economical plastic with the value (ATS, € …) - in addition to the number and the time - as an additional 3rd dimension. For more turn to www.kmentemt.com and then HoC-Calculator.

Das ist eher ein "Salami-Crash". Diese Krise filetiert stückweise, aber dies dafür erbarmungslos.
